Consider Rivermont

Rivermont Collegiate encourages all families exploring school options to visit our campus. We enjoy sharing our philosophy, our values, our programs and our facilities. Parents are invited to tour the classrooms, speak with the teachers and meet with the appropriate Division Head to learn more about the school's philosophy and programs and discuss their child's educational needs. Please feel free to call the Admission Office at any time to schedule a visit.

Admission Procedure

To initiate the admission process, return the application form with a $50 one-time application/placement fee. As part of the application process, the prospective student spends a day (or part of a day) visiting the school and, depending on the student's age and grade level, is screened for appropriate placement. On or prior to that day, parents will need to furnish the school with a copy of their child's school records, standardized test scores for the past 3 years and two teacher's recommendations. (Note: PreSchool, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants do not provide records or scores and only need to provide one teacher recommendation.) When an application is received, you will be contacted by the Admission Office to schedule the student visit.

When the applicant's file is complete, the Admission Committee will meet to review the student's school records, teacher observations, and the results of the screening. The family is then notified of the school's admission decision regarding the student.

Admission decisions begin to occur in late-March. The number of students who can be accepted in any year will depend on the spaces available after the return of re-enrollment contracts by current families (and enrollment of siblings of current students) in early April. New students will be accepted until available spaces are filled. Students may be admitted after the start of the school year on a case-by-case basis.

An acceptance letter and enrollment contract are sent to the parents of admitted students after the admission decision has been made. The signed contract and an enrollment deposit of $250 are returned to Rivermont Collegiate. At that time, the student is considered enrolled. If you have any questions regarding the admission procedure, please either e-mail the Admission Office: murray@rvmt.org, or call Cindy Murray at 563-359-1366 x302.

Tuition Assistance

It is Rivermont's continuing goal that economic standing should not be a factor in admission. Families are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance. Many families receive some form of tuition adjustment. Rivermont Collegiate follows the guidelines for tuition assistance set forth by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Tuition assistance is made on the basis of need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey. In addition, Rivermont asks that families complete a more specific budget worksheet, and submit current income tax information.

We recommend that families interested in tuition assistance apply for admission and tuition assistance as early as possible. We have limited funds available for tuition assistance and as the admission season passes, our ability to offer tuition assistance decreases. To apply for tuition assistance, please contact Cindy Murray, Admission Director, and request a packet of information and forms. You may also begin the process by using the links below to download forms directly.

Complete the Parents Financial Statement (PFS). This form is part of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). This organization works with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) to help member schools administer their financial aid. This form can be obtained through Rivermont however accessing the form online is preferred.

Complete the Rivermont Monthly Budget Worksheet This form is also available in our tution assistance packet. When complete, please send this form directly to Rivermont's Admission Office.

Rivermont requires a copy of your final 2009 income tax returns (and all accompanying schedules and attachments) as soon as they are complete. Please also include a copy of your W2 forms (or Schedule C, if you are self-employed).

  Award Decision Process

The admission committee must accept the application for admission before the tuition assistance award process takes place. The admission decision is treated separately from the tuition assistance award process. This is in accordance with NAIS Principles of Good Practice (found at www.nais.org). Once the results of the PFS, Monthly Budget Worksheet, and tax returns are submitted, the file will be reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee. If possible the admission decision and the enrollment contract containing the tuition assistance grant will be sent at the same time. All information received by the Admission Office and reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee is held in the strictest confidence.
